Chippewa Square
One of Savannah's most storied squares — home to the General Oglethorpe statue and the bench used in filming Forrest Gump.
Chippewa Square is one of the original Savannah squares laid out by General Oglethorpe's design. It is dominated by the statue of Oglethorpe himself at its center and is particularly famous as the filming location for the bench scenes in the 1994 film Forrest Gump (the actual bench is now in the Savannah History Museum). The square is surrounded by Federal and Greek Revival townhouses and is one of the most photographed squares in the city.
